The most popular attraction in nearby Samana is the annual whale watching from January -- March. This sanctuary is home to some 3,000 to 5,000 humpback whales each season. Watch as the males display their mating rituals by leaping up to 40 feet out of the sea, flippering their tails, standing on their heads, cooing their mating call, and doing whatever it takes to attract a female for mating. As this is a nationally protected environment, a professionally guided tour is the best way to get the most of what this mammal has to offer. |
