Other activities include shopping in Cabarete Village located next to the hotel, exploring Puerto Plata (30 minutes away), taking a cable railway to Isabel de Torres Hill (30 minutes away), or whale watching or visiting the Peninsula Samana beaches (3 hours away).
For a special recreational treat, the town of Cabarete is known for kiteboarding and is home to the largest event in the world the third week of June. Ideal viewing times are early morning with the winds and surf are just perfect.
Windsurfing is another popular sport with Cabarete ranked as one of the "10 best locations" in the world.
Surfers and boogie boarders will love the clear, warm, and uncrowded waves found on the north coast and also known to be one of the "best spots in this part of the globe".
Scuba divers - both novice and pro - will marvel at the spectacular panorama of colorful marine life found in the waters in this part of the Caribbean .
Mountain bikers can travel out "through the bush" as well as stops at cafes or to simply talk with the locals who are very friendly.
Golfers can choose from both 9- and 18-hole courses both west and east of town. Golf courses include the Cabrera/Playa Grande Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones feature 10 holes running alongside towering ocean cliffs.
Lovers of the outdoors will be enticed by Cabarete Caves, part of the El Choco National Park feature relics of the ancient Taino natives - the pre-Columbian inhabitants of the island of Hispaniola. |
